Obesity Canada’s 5As of Obesity Management program was designed as a step-by-step framework for busy non-specialists who manage obesity in their patients.
The 5As of Pediatric Obesity Management professional toolkit includes a practitioner’s checklist, patient tear-off pad, a desktop tool to facilitate discussions on weight with patients, and a practitioner’s guide to incorporating the 5As into daily practice.
Based on the 5A’s of pediatric obesity management framework, videos were created that individually explain each section of the 5A’s and provides examples of how to put these guidelines into practice in everyday clinical care. Each video is 5-10 minutes to to assist busy primary care clinicians in addressing pediatric obesity in an informed, effective and sensitive way.
The 5 A’s toolkit has the potential to positively impact healthcare professionals self-efficacy and improve their success in addressing weight management and risk for type 2 diabetes in their practice.
