BACKGROUND

Meant2Prevent is a type 2 diabetes prevention initiative for children and youth. This project is a collaboration between 13 of Canada’s children’s hospitals through Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations (CCHF). See the hospitals involved on our Sponsorship page.

Establishing healthy, active lifestyle habits early in childhood is the best way to stay healthy throughout life. On this website, you will find trusted materials for both healthcare professionals and families on a number of healthy living topics ranging from chronic disease, nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and sleep.

WHY TYPE 2 DIABETES

About 35 years ago type 2 diabetes did not exist among children and youth. Today, 1 in 3 people under the age of 18 will be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in their lifetime.

OUR MANDATE

Empower families, youth, and healthcare professionals across Canada with evidence-based resources and tools to promote healthy living habits and prevent pediatric type 2 diabetes.

OUR VISION/GOAL

If we change the health of children, we will change the health of Canada.
